I think throughout the whole entire series of fnaf, Purple Guy (or purple man) was innocent.
I mean, just think about it. In fnaf4 if you noticed, in the bedroom of fnaf4 almost everything is purple in this room.

That could be a clue the little boy is purple guy.

Besides the fact of purple guy, his older brother and his friends could be Freddy, Chica, Bonnie, and Foxy. His older brother kept scaring him when he was little with the foxy hat. So maybe this brother could be foxy. Think about it. Maybe if the little brother was purple guy, the reason he killed the "kids" was to get revenge...? <---- That makes no since though..
Phone guy is a very strange figure. He could be the purple guy or the brother. He mentions in one of his phone calls that Foxy was his favorite one. Phone guy could be the brother..
The nightmare versions are just the little brother's immagination. They aren't real. Be real here. If you were a 5 year old child and your brother (or sister) kept scaring you with a hat that looked like a scary fox, wouldn't you be scared? I would. So the big brother kept scaring him and scaring him. Poor boy, he couldn't even sleep he was so scared.... If you keep being scared then you start immagining them looking crazy with ripped faces and sharp and long teeth. So I think basiclly fnaf4 is just you as a little boy immagining these creepy animatronics scaring you. You couldn't even sleep!

I dont think Foxy or Mangle caused the bite of 87. I think golden freddy did. If you played or watched fnaf4 you'll see that in one of the minigames, the brother and his friends teases the little brother to kiss golden freddy. Someone pushes his face in golden freddy's mouth and then Golden Freddy malfunctioned or something and bit the little brother's forehead off I think....
The timeline is FNAF4, FNAF 1, FNAF 2, FNAF 3

True, because in the game play, it says "if you hear breathing don't open the door". Indicator that the 'Animatronics' are alive. And even then why would animatronics breath? (Much less even be in a house.) They have no lungs to breath with. Therefore, it would have to be his brother and his friends constantly scaring the child.

Also if you want a REALLY strong theory about the time line. Watch Game Theory ^^ (They haven't included the 4th one since it is new. However, they were totly right about the 1st pizza place being just golden bonnie and golden freddy (spring trap, fredbear whatever).

In the minigame after the second night though, if you go back into the room you start in you can see the purple man helping another employee...

For those looking into this from the future, it was originally going to be a game to replace FreeRealms after it had shutdown, but things slowly fell apart. People gravitated towards a false promise of a returning FreeRealms (b4 FreeRealms Sunrise).
